I am a Chartered Environmentalist and started my career after graduating as a Chemist at Leeds University in 1976, as an industrial chemist working in product R&D and production management, which from about 1989 led me to a role in designing pollution control measures protecting drainage and watercourses.

From 1997  my experience broadened to assessing and supporting start up business ventures and technologies covering waste, energy, wastewater and water with UK NGO Groundwork until 2002. From 2002-2004 I managed teams involved in the transfer of novel environmental technologies with the Defence Diversification Agency. In the period 2008-2011 my role with SMEC International Pty included working with the Khalifa Fund, a Sovereign Fund in the Middle East assessing start up ventures or carrying out detailed technical and commercial assessments, reviewing due diligence studies and business case propositions. In addition, I have progressively in my career become involved with large scale infrastructure procurement projects, with strategic marketing (United Utilities 2005) and planning (London Freight Plan - as waste and utilities specialist).

The range of technologies I have dealt with range from advanced thermal treatment, carbon nanotubes, activated carbon, water, waste and waste water treatment/ disposal, AD, logistics/IT, sensors to name but a few.
