Does anyone know of some other sustainable way to clean water? I've heard of putting Floating Islands in the middle of contaminated water and it becomes a natural filtration system, but are there other methods? How good are the Floating Islands are?

Hi Carol, there are quite a few sustainable water treatment technologies (biofiltration, swales, infiltration basins etc.) and floating wetlands is just one of many. In my opinion it is a good method to provide a "final polishing" of water stored in an open dam, both storm water or waste water. It also helps to alleviate the green algae growth, especially in shallow water reservoirs in the hot climate. It can also be moved from one place to another with good engineering design - hence you can "rotate" the treatment component around the area of your pond. One supplier that I'm familiar with is: http://www.aquabiofilter.com/ Regards, Iouri
