Bio: Ronjon Chakrabarti Dipl. -Ing. (eq. MTech) Environmental Engineering Technical Expert and Project Manager at adelphi research, Germany PhD Student at TU-Berlin and JU-Kolkata Fields of expertise: Climate Change Adaptation, Integrated Water Resource Management and Water Quality Control Climate Change Mitigation and Energy Management, Technology Cooperation and Participatory Approaches Ronjon Chakrabarti, born in 1978, joined adelphi in 2006. He works as a technical expert and project manager on topics related to climate change adaptation and integrated water resource management, climate change mitigation and energy management, technology cooperation and participatory approaches. His first task with adelphi was related to setting up a participatory river monitoring system in Kathmandu, Nepal. His ventures for Indian ministries and corporations comprise advising and consultancy as well as providing trainings to expert delegations and capacity development for specialists and executives. He worked as a consultant for the GTZ environmental management programme in Hyderabad, India. His tasks were to advice the Andhra Pradesh Industrial infrastructure Corporation APIIC on developing eco industrial parks. Subsequently his activities were related to climate change mitigation studies in commercial and industrial sectors in India. Currently he focusses on designing and evaluating climate change adaptation technologies related to sustainable water management for the European Commission and the German Environmental Ministry. Working intermittent in India and Germany his recent projects deal with water quality control and IWRM in rural communities, natural resource management, energy efficiency and renewable energies as well as cleaner production and participatory environment management. Ronjon Chakrabarti studied Environmental Engineering and Philosophy at the Technical University in Berlin, where he focused on water quality control and integrated water resource management. In his studies he further emphasized air quality control, hygiene, water supply and limnology and renewable energies. He attended his obligatory internship at the water management company Compesa in the north-east of Brazil, where he worked on a river bank filtration project. In his thesis on water management in rural, southern Chile he dealt with different water supply techniques. He wrote his diploma thesis at the Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India on the topic „Potable Water Supply in West Bengal with emphasis on asenic mitigation approaches in the rural areas”. In addition to his employment at adelphi he is writing his PhD Thesis on IWRM and surface water treatment solutions in rural areas. During his studies Ronjon Chakrabarti worked as lecturer at an environment education center, as Coordinator for the Youth Initiative World Exposition 2000, as a tutor in the areas of „Critical Environment Protection“ and „Energy- Momentum- and Mass transfer“ at the Technical University in Berlin and as a computer science lecturer at the University of Herat in Afghanistan.
