Career in horticulture started in 1981 and have worked at Rand Water since 1982. Started as a learner Technician Horticulture, and am currently in the position of Manager-Environmental Management Services for Rand Water.

Studied at Technikon Natal and obtained a ND Horticulture in 1984.

In 1990 obtained ND Parks and Recreation Management from Technikon SA now known as UNISA. Has undertaken several management courses through Wits Business school and Henley Business School’s.

In 2009 obtained an MSC in Environmental Management from UNISA. The thesis being ‘A proactive water supply shortage response plan focusing on the Green Industry in the Rand Water supply area.’

Currently preparing for PhD submission for early 2015.

The department managed at Rand Water includes the responsibilities of an internal nursery, site maintenance and landscaping, managing of nature areas, indoor plants, flower arrangements and floral displays, all adult educational and promotional aspects of the Water Wise brand for the Rand Water supply area, water conservation research, as well as all aspects relating to environmental authorizations for new pipeline and reservoir projects including the environmental monitoring/compliance and rehabilitation thereof.

I am interested in any research that addresses water conservation, water use, water use formulas, drought and drought impacts or water demand management in the following areas; natural environment, horticultural and agricultural industry, gardens/landscapes, homes, business and leisure industries.
