Would you exchange beef for chicken because it is more 'water footprint friendly'?
2nd Sep 2010
According to the "Water Footprint Network", the global average water footprint is 15,500 litres of water per kg of beef, compared to 3,900 litres for 1 kg of chicken meat.
I like beef and will consider eating less now that I understand the virtual water cost.
I will replace beef with chicken as a substitute to diminish the water footprint.
I will educate myself regarding virtual water.
I like beef too much to change my diet, regardless of the water footprint cost.
What is virtual water?
