Virtual-water consciousness

19 Aug 2010 at 12:18

The “virtual-water content” is the volume of freshwater used throughout the various steps of the production chain to make a product.
For example, a cup of coffee takes about 140 liters of water and 260g of beef take 4030 liters of water. This water could be used in a more sustainable and socially responsible way.
The challenge is to bring awareness to the population at large.

What would help you to be more conscious and to decrease the amount of virtual water consumption in your daily life?
