
The Philanthropy News Digest (2/19) reports, "American Water Works Company, a US water and wastewater utility company, has announced that applications are being accepted for its 2011 Environmental Grant Program. Grants are available in American Water service areas in ten states: California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee."
The company's "Environmental Grant Program offers funds for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore, or protect watersheds, surface water, and/or groundwater supplies through partnerships." Projects must address a water protection need in the community, or establish an expansion or creation of a new program to qualify for the grant.
