Sustainable Agriculture

About The Sustainable Agriculture Group

The pressure on agriculture to produce more food for increasing global population has continue to place extra strain on water supply. Thus, this forum promotes sustainable use of water for agriculture

Agriculture has been the main stay of human development. With greatly increasing world population, increasingly compromised freshwater quality sources, diminished freshwater sources and exacerbated by climate change, agriculture is at a breaking point. Sustainability of the current trends in human growth and development will require increased implementation of irrigated intensive agriculture. Despite this realization conservation needs and sustainability proponents have maintained a push to reduce the water demand of the agricultural sector despite need for increased production.
