Events scheduled for September 2012

The 2012 International Conference on Power and Energy Engineering (ICPEE 2012) will be held in Phuket, Thailand during September 1-2, 2012. ICPEE 2012 is sponsored by SCIence and Engineering Institute, and supported by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). It is one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of Power and Energy Engineering.

The African Conference on Water Resource Management will act as a forum in the development and application of technology in ensuring the sustainable use and management of our water resources.

Objectives of the Conference

• To act a multi-stakeholder platform, provided by the Government of Gujarat and CII, to deliberate on the key agri-issues, post harvest technologies

• To identify the best practices in agriculture across the globe

• To showcase the recent technologies through demonstrations and displays

The 9th International Conference on “Urban Drainage Modelling” (UDM) will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2012 from 4 to 7 September. The Conference is designed to bring together specialists, researchers and practitioners, to exchange experiences, demonstrate present potential, improve the reliability of urban drainage modelling and to set-up the stage for its future developments. Topics are from both theoretical and practical developments and applications and you are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts of papers for the Conference.

The goals of the workshop are to provide a forum to share and discuss the latest advances for all active researchers in the field of salinity difference renewable energy.
In this workshop, we intend to focus on the physical principles of the techniques, the development of materials, the project of prototypes and pilot plants, in particular for the following techniques:
Pressure-retarded osmosis
Reverse electrodialysis
Capacitive mixing or Salinity exchange
Mixing entropy and desalination batteries

The Congress will explore many of our most pressing environmental and development challenges from this perspective and how strong and resilient nature is intricately linked to solving these issues. The objectives of HydroPredict2012 conference are:
(i) to present tools and methods which assist in assessing and discriminating between human and climate change induced impacts on water resources systems;
(ii) to discuss the predictive capability of simulation models used for water resources issues, including the model output uncertainty,
(iii) to present tools and methods for adaptation to changing global conditions;
(iv) to address water management policy to reduce vulnerability and to increase the resilience of water resources systems; and

The reasons for these risks are straightforward. A growing population and increasing economic activity, coupled with declining water quality in many regions, have resulted in increased competition for water in the public and private sectors. While the term “water scarcity” is frequently heard, we are more specifically experiencing greater competition for water. The amount of fresh and accessible water is static; we do not create new water or “use up” existing supplies. Instead we are placing greater demands on an irreplaceable natural resource.
