India's river-linking project mired in cost squabbles and politics

India's plan to link 37 rivers would save the country from drought and flood and help feed millions. So why is progress so slow. I came across very interesting blog this morning, members of this group must read and write their comments here.

Unless and until the water rights lie under the State governments this project will be delayed because of regional politics. Most of the water disputes existing now has already created tensions between states which will further delay the implementation of interlinking of Rivers. Moreover before being an Indian all Indians are either Tamilan, Malayali or Maharashtrian; it should be the reverse though...
