The European Membrane Society has announced a week-long Middle East school of membrane technology at the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Membrane Technology for Sustainable Desalination & Water Reuse will be hosted by KAUST's Water Desalination & Reuse Center.More than a dozen speakers from KAUST and European institutes and universities have been lined up for presentations during the course.
A report published last week by the Boston-based independent research house estimated that water managers globally will spend aboout USD$27.8 billion for advanced wastewater treatment technologies in 2012.
That spend will provide an additional global wastewater treatment capacity of 16.3 million cubic metres (m3) per day.
The report noted that wastewater technologies most commonly used by cities today “gobble enormous amounts of energy, send megatons of toxic sludge to landfills and incinerators, and throw away valuable water that many communities could reuse”.

With water production becoming a major environmental and economic issue for operators and regulators worldwide, it is every oil and gas operator’s responsibility to ensure they adopt efficient strategies to mitigate the ill effects of produced water.
Energy IQ is pleased to announce the second edition of Produced Water Management 2012 (22nd – 23rd May, 2012), a conference that looks exclusively into the latest advancements, strategies and technologies to cope with challenges arising out of the large amounts of produced water.
Aim:
Source Management
source management of pollutants across catchments;
provision of nationally recognised qualifications; and
priority pollutants effecting reuse of resources
Biosolids
achieving higher grades for biosolid reuse;
reducing odour potential; and
increasing knowledge of benefits to crops and improvement in soil quality
The conference will feature educational presentations, networking opportunities, and CEU's for operators.
The 2012 Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition will be the premier event for membrane technology and
applications in North America. For the first time, AWWA and AMTA have teamed together to host a joint conference
and exposition in Glendale, Arizona, held February 27– March 1, 2012.
2011 National Water Recycling & Reuse Technology Conference will give an update on water recycling reforms, technologies and also case studies on industrial & commercial water recycling.
The aim of the Wastewater Purification and Reuse Regional Conference, is to gather, under one roof, all of you that your research, your business or your daily activity, is related to the purification of the wastewater and its reuse. We believe that through the presentation and discussion of technical and scientific achievements, as well as the exchange of experiences that each of you will bring along, we will be able to increase the water reuse parameter as a tool and reduce the wastewater parameter as a threat.
As the City of Fort Worth works to meet the future water needs of a booming population, Village Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant's reclaimed water service for irrigation and non-potable uses is getting national attention.
